Solutions

Aim: To investigate the solubility of Calcium Chloride and Magnesium Oxide.

Equipment:

  • Spatula 
  • Stirring rod
  • Beaker 
  • Measuring cylinder 
  • Calcium Chloride
  • Magnesium Oxide
Method: 
  1. Fill the beaker with 100mL of tap water.
  2. Add a level spatula scoop of Calcium Chloride.
  3. Stir the solution until all of the Calcium Chloride has dissolved.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until no more Calcium Chloride will dissolve into the solution.
  5. Record how many spatula scoops of Calcium Chloride were added.
  6. Repeat the experiment with the Magnesium Oxide.
Magnesium = 5 spatula scoops 
Calcium Chloride = 7 spautla scoops
