To separate the different pigments in inks and dyes using paper chromatography.
Equipment:
- Ink from marker pens, food colouring or ballpoint pens
- 250mL beaker
- A strip of filter paper
- Scissors
- Water
- Pencil
1. Cut your filter paper into a thick strip. |
Get all your equipment ready.
3. Draw one or two dots on top of the line. |
4. Add a little bit of water and make sure it doesn't touch the dots. |
