Making a Dilution Series

Aim: To make a dilution series to investigate the concentration

Equipment:

• A potassium permanganate crystal
• Six large test tubes
• Dropper
• A Tese tube 
• Safety Glasses
• Test tube rack

Method:

1. Put safety glasses on.
2. Place six tubes in the test tube rack.
3. Using the measuring cylinder, fill one test tube with 10mL of water and the other with 5mL of water.
4. Add a single crystal of potassium permanganate into the test tube with 10mL.
5. Using your dropped take 5mL of water from the test tube with 10mL and place it into one of the test tubes with 5mL to make 10mL, repeat with all of the test tubes. 
6. Rinse the dropper everytime you move 5mL of water.
