New Zealand Government

New Zealand Government
New Zealand is a democratic country, which means Members Of Parliament are chosen in free and fair elections. New Zealanders over the age of 18 have a part in voting, voting is not compulsory. Every 3 years and two months, New Zealand holds elections for voting. We use MNP to vote in New Zealand for the Members Of Parliament. This is what a democratic country is like.

I Wonder Why

I Wonder Why How Many Countries Have National Sports
Canada: Lacrosse
Scotland: Golf
Japan: Sumo Wrestling

Lacrosse is a sport where the ball is thrown, carried across the field and is thrown into the goal with a long stick with a triangular net at the end. The game was originally called stickball.

Scotlands national sport is golf. People have been playing golf since the year 960 but Scotland started playing golf in 1457.

Sumo wrestling has been a sport since 794 and because of the long history and ancient wall paintings is it considered Japans national sport. Sumo wrestling is played by getting the opponent outside of the circle or getting any part of their body to touch the ground that isn't the soul of their feet.

I Wonder who held their breath the longest underwater?

In 2012 a German free diver, Tom Sietas broke the record for holding his breath underwater for 22 minutes and 22 seconds. Before he broke the record of 22 minutes he held the record of 17 minutes and 28 seconds.

I Wonder what the longest time someone has stayed awake for?
The longest time someone has stayed awake is 449 hours (18.7 days) via rocking chair marathon. In 1977 Maureen Weston held the record for staying up the longest. She bet Peter Tripp with 8.4 days and Randy Gardner with 11 days. She experienced paranoia and hallucination towards the end of her marathon. The Guinness World Records are not acknowledging sleep deprivation attempts anymore due to health reasons.
