The Physics of Car Racing

What has been done to make this a 'fair test'.
  • All the cars are racing on the same track.
  • They're racing at the same time.
  • Everyone has the same materials.
  • We all have the same time to create/work on our cars.
What forces are needed to make the car go faster and how have you modified your car accordingly?
  • Acceleration
  • Gravity
  • We taped some string to the back of the car.
  • we used tape to stick down the balloon and the string.
  • We taped the balloon on the top of the car to make it look pretty!
What forces are needed to make the car stop and what adjustments have you made to try and stop it by the line?
  • The drag/friction in the car slows it down by pulling it.
  • We added the sting to the car to lower it so it doesn't go past the line.
What forces are needed to make the car travel further and what adjustments have you made to achieve this?
  • Acceleration makes the car go faster so it won't slow down.
  • We will pull the string down the ramp to make the car go faster and further.

  1. Hi Chloe,I like how you have added a photo and have arrows pointing to what each part of the car is for.
